It’s been a while since we released Cannon Land, our first casual game for iOS and Android. Now, it’s a good time to look back and see everything we achieved in our first launch.
Cannon Land was published for both iOS and Android on November 5th 2015. Under the umbrella of eRepublik Labs, we got a promising ‘featuring’ by Apple’s Appstore in the ‘New games we love’ section, being featured in most South American countries, Spain and –undoubtedly our biggest success– Japan.
In Latam and Spain we got the fourth position ‘featuring’, both for iPad and iPhone, while in Japan we got the fifth ‘featuring’ position for iPad and the sixth for iPhone. However, our surprise was the ‘featuring’ we got in Japan lasting three weeks, which translated into an important downloads boost.
At the same time, in Google Play we managed to appear on the Google Play Homepage in more than 170 countries around the world, and that was the source for more than a half of the total downloads obtained.
Certainly those were very promising results, which managed to give the game the necessary notoriety for popular blogs to review the game. Like the famous Japanese blog Appbank, who made this awesome review
Also Toucharcade, one of the most influential blogs in North America, wrote this about our release.
Thanks to all of this, the game got downloaded more than 150.000 times, with Sao Paulo being the city with more downloads worldwide and Osaka the Japanese city with more downloads.
However, we never appeared in China during the featuring week, fact that was surprising to us given the success we had in Japan, and being our game aesthetically appealing to Asian culture/trends, we thought China would be a potential market too. It wasn’t, in the end, and Cannon Land wasn’t noticed. Nevertheless, China is now the country with the biggest number of downloads and keeps growing every day.
It’s been almost a year since we published Cannon Land, and what pleased us the most is people’s feedback. With a 4,5/5 rating in the stores, we are very proud of the way you enjoy our game, just as we enjoy your comments.
We have the satisfaction of entertaining so many people around the world and we will continue to work in this direction.
